1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what we collect automatically, and what we receive from third-party sign-in providers.
1.1 Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
- Mobile number, when you choose to verify your account or sign in by OTP.
- Profile content: recipes, comments, reviews, ratings, and photos you upload.
- Creator marketplace details, if you become a creator: store information, product listings, and payout/bank details needed to pay out your earnings.
- Anything you type into the AI food assistant or recipe-generation features.
- Messages you send us for support or feedback.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, recipes saved, search queries, click and scroll behaviour, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address.

1.3 Information from third parties
- If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that provider, as permitted by your account settings with them.
2. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To operate core features: saving recipes, personalising recommendations, and running the AI recipe assistant.
- To process creator marketplace orders and calculate and pay out creator earnings.
- To send OTP verification codes, transactional emails, and — where you have opted in — product updates.
- To detect fraud, abuse, and misuse of the Creator Score system or marketplace.
- To measure site performance and improve content, and to serve relevant advertising.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. AI features
Our recipe-generation and food-assistant features are powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Text you submit to these features is sent to Anthropic for processing in order to generate a response. We do not send your account password, payment details, or government ID information to any AI provider.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: Cloudinary (image hosting and delivery), MSG91 (SMS/OTP delivery), Railway (backend hosting), Vercel (frontend hosting), Neon (database hosting, Mumbai region), and Anthropic (AI features).
- Sign-in providers (Google, Microsoft) — only to the extent needed to authenticate you.
- Advertising partners, currently Google AdSense, who may use cookies to serve and measure ads. See our Cookie Policy.
- Affiliate programs, currently the Amazon Associates Program — clicking an affiliate product link may set a tracking cookie on Amazon's site, governed by Amazon's own privacy policy.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Thamizh Suvai, our users, or the public.
5. Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain records (for example, transaction and payout records for tax and accounting purposes) for longer under applicable law.
6. Data storage and security
Our database is hosted on Neon PostgreSQL in the Mumbai (India) region. We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent (such as marketing emails). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's privacy
Thamizh Suvai is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International visitors
Thamizh Suvai is operated from India and our infrastructure is primarily hosted in India, with some service providers (such as our AI provider) processing data outside India as part of delivering that specific feature.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here with an updated "Last updated" date, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as an email or in-app banner).
